Vocations to LAMP
Is God calling YOU to serve with the materially poor in NYC? We think He might be! Don’t be shy! We welcome inquiries from single men and women, married couples, and consecrated religious. Give us a call at (718) 409-5062.
LAMP is about putting our common baptismal call into action through finding Jesus in His blessed poor. This is:
A call to holiness in giving.
You will give yourself to a year or more of sharing the love of Jesus among the materially poor. You might serve with homeless families, the poor and sick in hospitals and nursing homes, the hungry (in body and soul), those vulnerable to abortion, or any of those who are most forgotten.
You will give your whole being to the Lord, asking for His leading and the power of His Spirit, echoing Mary’s “yes.” Sharing the love of Jesus’s Heart is His work, and we are only cooperators in it to the extent that we surrender ourselves.
You will give your support and affirmation to others who are responding to the call. Single male missionaries live together in community, as do single woman missionaries.
A call to holiness in receiving.
LAMP is a canonical ministry of the Archdiocese of New York with 36 years of service. Our status in the Church is a guarantee that we share in the channel of grace that flows from His Heart to His blessed poor.
To share more fully in this grace, there is ongoing formation and support for the missionaries, to grow more fully in our charism and in our relationship with the Lord Jesus. Daily Mass, prayer time, and a weekly day off are also provided for, along with room and board, health insurance, and a monthly stipend ($250).
Please continue to browse our website and pray about if the Lord might be calling you here. You can also like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for more updates.
