Apply to Become a LAMP Missionary.
Jesus said, “I have come to serve” (Mt. 20:28)
As a LAMP Missionary, you give your life to the Lord in full-time evangelizing service with the poor and homeless in the Bronx and NYC for a year or more, seeking holiness of life within a service community.
Our community includes single men, women, and married couples who are called by the Holy Spirit to move with the beating Hearts of Jesus and Mary in their compassionate sharing of faith with the poor.
LAMP is a canonical ministry of the Archdiocese of New York with 39 years of service. Our status in the Church guarantees we share in the channel of grace that flows from His Heart to His blessed poor.
To share more fully in this grace, there is ongoing formation and support for the missionaries, to grow more fully in our charism and in our relationship with the Lord Jesus.
Room and board, health insurance, and a monthly stipend ($250) are provided.
Serve in a variety of LAMP’s ministries, including LAMP Cafe, our food canteen truck, Pro-Life Ministry, homeless shelter visitation, and street evangelization in downtown NYC.
Deepen your prayer life by living with the Holy Eucharist. At LAMP you’ll attend daily Mass and adoration, pray the liturgy of the hours, and participate in group studies, and community prayer time.
Live in the Bronx at the men’s residence, St. Joseph’s House, or women’s residence Annunciation House. Experience the fruits of communal life together with other people who are passionate about service and the Catholic faith.
When one applicant was asked why he wanted to be a LAMP Missionary, he responded, “I want my faith to be my job.”
