LAMPcafé
LAMP’s food and faith ministry called “LAMP café” brings lunches, affirming conversations, Scripture readings, and prayer for the guests who come to three sites in the South Bronx. It’s important for the materially poor to know God has not abandoned them. Through encounters at LAMPcafé, a person on the street comes to know how much the Lord cares for him or her through the attention, care and prayers of the LAMP Missionaries.
Holy Cross Fellowship
LAMP Missionaries meet at Holy Cross Church on 42nd St near Times Square. They pray together, then go out to visit homeless people sitting on the streets. They bring food, Bibles, socks, and a list of other resources where they can get more help. We host a Bible Study Fellowship at Holy Cross Church for people who live nearby. The emphasis of the fellowship is to create a community and to empower people through friendship, Scripture, and authentic faith sharing.
LAMP for Life
LAMP Missionaries stand outside of a Planned Parenthood building in the South Bronx, advocating the value and worth of life through pro-life messaging. Our literature provides medical information, as well as resources for material help and prayer outreach, to those who are pregnant. Missionaries also offer words of mercy to those individuals who have undergone an abortion for post-trauma healing.
Nursing Home Visitation
Hospital stays often leave patients lonely and feeling powerless. LAMP humbly serves hospitals and nursing homes to bring God’s message of hope, love, and compassion to the communities there. LAMP Missionaries listen to their stories and concerns, as well as offer the gifts of the Eucharist and Scripture reflection.
Family Shelter Visitation
In pairs of two, missionaries visit family shelters around New York City to share the love of Jesus. The missionaries bring the homeless families compassion and love through friendly conversation, listening, reading the Scriptures and praying with these precious, struggling families.
